I have been given the opportunity to go back to El Salvador during Spring Break!
I am very thrilled and excited that I can go back and be a part of a team that is ministering there. The team: a group of students from Gardner-Webb University my old school in North Carolina! I am very excited!
I will be going under CAM International again, working with the Christian School for the Deaf in San Salvador. We will be there for about 10 days. During the school week the team will be responsible to keep the kids occupied- teaching classes, playing games, recreation, etc. Meanwhile the teachers will be in workshops held by prominent professors from GWU. I am so thrilled that the teachers have this opportunity to disengage from teaching and focus on how to increase their sign language skills, their knowledge of Deaf culture, etc. During the summer, while I was in El Salvador, these concerns were presented to me and I am so excited to see how God is meeting their needs. They are very grateful and receptive!
My ministry while there will be different than before. I will be helping with much Spanish interpreting from American Sign Language during the workshops. This way the teachers (all hearing) can have more clarification. Also, I will help in translation whenever and wherever anyone has communication difficulties of course.
We will also spend many evenings at the Efata Church- a Deaf church with adult members in El Salvador. I attended this church while I was there this past summer and am very excited to see old friends, minister to them, and encourage them and their pastor Mario once again.
It is very important to me to have prayer support more than anything. Would you please join me and others for the following specific prayer requests:
*That the team would be safe and healthy throughout the trip
*That there would be unity among the team members, leaders, students and teachers
*Opportunity to learn more, be open to different signs, and be flexible
*That the teachers and students would benefit tremendously from the speakers, and student interaction. That they would be encouraged and that all would grow closer to the Lord in the process.
*For full financial support for all who are going
*For me personally as I translate into Spanish. That Ill be calm, clear, and accurate. For patience and that the teachers would understand fully.
I am very encouraged by your prayers! Thank you all who have prayed for me during my first trip to El Salvador. It was so incredible! (And I will give an update on both trips when I return.)
Dates: I leave March 5th from Dallas and dont return until March 15th.
Thank you so much for your help, friendship, and prayers through the years.
God Bless,
Karen Stewart
